If anything the DH should be able to use his.her dark magic to summon illusions of themselves, that do no damage, and imitate what you do. Using trickery and being cunning, that would be awesome.
Not only that, if there is a pet, that means wasted skill spaces to associate with the pet, because with out those skills the pet would stink. I rather have those skill spaces used for something a little more creative. I also think having control over your pet would be needed to get the full advantage of the pet, with out it it would be brainless, but with he control - possibly too much to have responsibility over at one time, for a simple game-play type of game.
Pet or no pet, i believe blizzard will make the best choice, but that does not stop me from no wanting a brainless follower.|||Spike trap + Pet Rune = Screamer

Diablo 2 had pets.
Necro had his summons.
Druid had his summons.
And in that vein, the Amazon's Valkyrie and Assassin's Shadow Warrior were "pets" in function.|||he knows shadow magic, so logically a shadow beast of some kind would make sense. I love the idea of that.|||companion lvl 16 skill for DH, im guessing it will be a (d2lodAssn) shadow master like clone or some kind of shade monster/demon thematically similar to her shadow skills.|||Quote:

Based on the icon for companion, it looks like a Raven/Crow.

Hopefully it's more useful than the Druid's Raven!|||I was going to say the pet will likely be some king of demon that the DH has forcibly tamed, but 'trap' pets seem just as likely if not more so.
