My idea for 5th Class: Witchhunter

[:1]I have talked about this in some other threads. I also were extremely bored, so here is bit more of this Idea which I think could work as a 5th class.

Witchhunters would be dedicated good guys hunting down monsters, undead and corrupted persons in the world of Sanctuary.

They are extremely skilled and versatile fighters, being able to use bows and melee weapons well with an array of special weapons of their own. They would be an intelligent physical class relying on weapons and their wits and latest achievments of what technology has to offer to kill their enemies. They would also possess some skills which would be extremely effective against certain spesific targets.

Some skill ideas:

Special weapon attacks:

(Usable with any weapon)

Whip Slash

Slashes the target from medium distance with a bladed whip, which witchhunter carries with him, for X damage.

Razor Blade

Throws a spinning razor sharp blade at the target for X damage.

Spiked Bola

Throws a spiked bola which deals damage and stuns the target for X time.

Silver Stake

Stabs the target from close range with a silver stake, dealing X damage. Deals 3x damage to undead with flesh and shapeshifter type targets.

Pistol Blast

Shoots a projectile from tube filled with explosive powder for high damage.

(This would be a end skill of a some tree, with cooldown. Think some very early medieval gunpowder pistol and smoke cloud. Feel free to not consider this if you think firearms should be absolutely banned at DIII. It would just be this lone cooldown skill though. )

Bow attacks:

(With bow >.>)

Roped Arrow

Shoots an arrow with a rope attached to it. Target can then be dragged to the Witchhunter. Can also be used for crossing gaps. GET OVER HERE!

Impact Arrow

Stuns and knockbacks the target.

Multi Shot

...

Guided Arrow

...

Exploding Arrow

Yes these three are straight ripoffs from Amazon, but you cannot make a bow using class without these, can you?

Melee skills:

(With melee weapons)

Spinning Slash

The Witchhunter does a short jump to the target and spins in the air striking with his both weapons or with his 2h weapon for 120% damage.

Z Slash

Does three quick attacks with his weapon. Slashes forming the Z figure. Each attack deals 75% weapon damage.

Decapitate

Attempts to decapitate the target with his weapon. Deals extremely large damage. Has -75% miss chance unless the target is stunned or blinded. Does 2x damage to living targets (with head).

Roll

Does a quick defensive roll to target direction. +50% dodge chance when rolling.

Other skills:

Toxic Vial

Throws an aciddic and toxic vial to target location, Leaving poisonous cloud which deals X damage and X damage over time. Deals 2x damage to living and breathing targets.

Exploding Vial

Throws an exploding vial at target location, exploding for large radius for X damage

Blessed Vial

Throws a vial filled with blessed oils to the gound which start burning, dealing X holy damage to targets which enter the area. Deals 3x damage to undead and 2x damage to demons. Also removes any positive magic effects from the target and dispels existing magic effects from the target location.

Flash Bomb

Throws a bomb at target location exploding with bright flash, blinding everyone on radius.

Anatomy

Passive skill. Increases the critical chance of all attacks.

Alchemy lore

Passive skill. Increases the damage of vials and explosive attacks.

Efficiency

Passive skill. Reduces the resource cost of skills.

Resoucefullness

Passive skill. Reduces the cooldowns of all skills.

Concept picture, which I think would fit quite well.

|||A Van Helsing char?

Yeah, that's not a new idea. It is a fine one, which WILL fits perfectly with the 5th char as Archer archetype.

I didn't read your skills description, but I will. Then again, this is a very common idea.|||Imo, that is sort of mix of Van Helsing, Blade and Castlevania series hero

Yeah it is not that new idea actually. I think too that it would fit as a 5th class. It is most badass I can come up with, but Blizzard brobably will surprass itself as usual.|||Quote:

Yes you can!

Splitting Arrow:

Shoots one arrow, which splits upon impact into two, upto 5 times. Homing to the nearest target.

Impaling Arrow:

Shoots through targets, dealing 400%-100% damage, each time less. Stops at 100%

Scram Shot:

Arrow flys at supersonic speed (or through witchspace), the shockwave deals damage, and knocks back/sideways.

Splinter Shot:

Arrow hits the floor exploding and ripping it open. Shrapnels randomly fly in every direction. Damage depends on the surface type.|||Well I've read all of your WH skills and one thing just screamed at me:

Too much like Monk.

This would be an excellent 4th char, but it seems (to me at least) that you're gearing this char towards Aracher/Fast Light Melee. Archery is fine, but the Fast Light Melee part is already taken by the Monk, which creates, IMO, too much of an overplay between chars.|||Don't forget Arcing shot!

He should have a laptop! Or one of those electronic diaries with voice recognition. And a special watch that actually fires lasers!|||Since blizzard took the monk concept from the nightmare expansion and developed on it, i am speculating, that the last character might be the rogue, who also has the same potential, especially considering, that the game needs an archer/dagger/dex specialist.

However i like the Atechs idea of a with hunter even more, because it could also "replace" the paladin as the holy, noble and good guy.

the only skill i am not too crazy about it is whip slash..for some reason leather clothes, military boots and a whip give me other associations :d|||I might be wrong, but isn't the Monk supposed to be the Paladin's replacement as the noble holyman?|||"Peasent" I am not sure the monk would be replacing the Paladin. because he was afterall one of most popular character in D2(like the necro), and thus i dont think Blizzard would ignore him in a potential expansion. I just think, like the necro, that nothing could be improved about him or his skils, which is the reason they havent included them. The lead designer of D3 Jay Wilson says:

The problem was, we looked at the class and didn't think that we could really make him a lot better," he explained. "We could add some new stuff to him but for the most part -- curses, corpse explosion, skeleton pets -- done. That's the class. We wanted to create new gameplay, so we chose to do the Witch Doctor as a different kind of class. http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/...i-necromancer/

That being said, the reason why i dont see the monks as holymen or crusaders, is because i am muslim, and thus cant relate to monks irl and their relegion, but can certainly identify myself with christian and muslim holymen/crusaders et cetera. However its possible, like you say, that the monk in d3 has been given the role of the paladin. In any case i am probably going to play the monk as my first character .-)|||Quote:

Actually the monk IS the holy character in D3, I think he will have the ability at the higher levels, to transform into some form of Avatar. Imagine him flying through Hell, in the midst of piles and piles of horrifying monsters, spamming awesome skills...
