Crossbow and Shield

[:1]In Diablo 2 a lot of builds used shields for getting max block. That required some investment in dexterity. When building a bowzon you needed lots of dexterity, but because bows are 2h you couldn't use that for blocking. In diablo 3 we have already seen the DH use dual pistol crossbows and I am wondering if you could use one pistol crossbow and a shield. I think that would be a very interesting and strong build. Post you thoughts.|||So far, they are treated as a 2 hander mechanically (dropping in pairs and equipped likewise).

I would suspect that 1 handed each is possible and you have the same dual or w/s option like usual. While I think this is possible, I do suspect some of her skills will only work with two pistols, much like DClaw and Frenzy.|||+ we don't know how (over)powered shields will be.|||at this point, shields are garbage cause there's no percentage to block instead they're gonna have a block rate. furthermore, block doesn't fully negate an attack but instead only reduces the damage|||Which part of the revealed game mechanics and damage out put relative to shield blocking has led you to this inevitable conclusion?|||Quote:

i heard it in one of the blizzcon videos, having said that, this might change 10 times before the release|||It mentions that shields do it by damage reduction instead of 100% damage reduction. There was nothing about how it compares to the damage dealt like I'd asked. He didn't say shields were ****. He said they were different. I can see the confusion, seeing as how the two words are practically homonyms.|||No matter a DH with a shield has to be one of the dumbest idea ive heard, nest to barbs duel wilding shields :lol|||Not sure why. Yes, from "realism" perspective it is stupid. But so is dual wielding crossbows. In this case, gameplay (giving every class access to shields) trumps aesthetic.|||Quote:
