Demon Hunter! - Page 4

[:1]She seems like what the Assassin should of been from the very start. Well, this one hunts demons, the other hunts stupid corrupted mages. That's funny though. You had one assassin in the second who was keeping an eye on Ormus or whomever, but now there are cultists and corruption galore, but no assassins.

This class makes up for the assassin's and amazon's lousy skills at least.

And don't get the glowing eyes. She doesn't look like she knows THAT much about dark magic... If that's the case, the necromancer should be shooting out gamma rays out of his eyes.

The whole class seems tragic. Dark magic and revenge is going to lead to an early trainwreck. Maybe not as stupid as jamming a soulstone into your head though.|||Quote:

I think she's pretty cool for the most part. Interested to see more of her skills. I have one big fear: that her weapon restrictions will exclude all melee weapons, even short swords. Anyone else get that feeling?

Quote:

Why would they restrict a single class to a total of 3 weapons?

Quote:

This. There's no freaking way they only allow 3 weapons for a whole damn class. Granted, most of her skills (arrows, bola, snares) are bow based, but Fan of Knives (I FoK you!!!) and grenade are probably useful if you have a melee weapon. Of course, I would bet money those skills scale better w/ bow affixes as opposed to melee weapon affixes, but you never know.

Apparently I had good reason to worry. Reports from demo players confirm there is currently no melee for now. Somehow I knew it. Hopefully this will change further in the development process.|||Quote:

The trailer is good and grim. We'll see how it plays, though. My main beef w/ archer classes in the past has always been the "wizard w/ a bow" problem. How do you differentiate the two play styles enough to make it a meaningful choice?

That's exactly the idea I has when looking at the videos.

It really looks like a caster.

P.S. And what's up with the armour? Really, heavy armour with spikes? I mean spikes? What self respecting archer wants spikes on their armour. That's probably the best way to lose balance.

@AtomicJ: I don't think it's going to change. The aspect is ranged. Without weapon switch, you just can't throw in some melee skills and hope it'll work. Using melee weapon will be the wrong choice so they'll probably not include any.|||Quote:

Which naturally brings back the argument against cutting weapon switch, but they're gonna do what they're gonna do, so it's a useless discussion at this point.|||Why would you want the DH to use melee skills anyway? It's a ranged class, and there are already two classes entirely devoted to melee. I'd much rather they focus on something a bit different than overlapping with other classes.|||I don't see why you need melee. This isn't rl, its a game and there is nothing hampering your character from using ranged even when stuff is in her face. Why switch to a sword and swing at something when you can just molten arrow it in the face?|||IMO she looks bloody sick!

Don't know whay all the hate, considering it was expected they would bring out a rogue/assissin type character as they are the 2 character types missing from the remaining 4 characters.

Can't wait to try her out!!!!!

Dual Cross-bows baby!|||Duel crossbows ftw! I welcome more 2 handed hero's into the moshpit. The name did seem alien at first but no one will care if the skills and supporting items rock. The name kind of remind's me of the hunters from supernatural just a bit more specific.

I never liked the spear with the Amazon, always relying on the bow/xbow skills so to me that entire tab almost went to waste. I can see that if they put melee skills on the DH then this is what will likely happen. From someone who loves these characters I can for one vouch that projectiles only is a very positive move! |||Quote:

Vouch on the sin / zon fusion.

About the eyes though: the necromancer didn't use shadow magic. He used death magic that has a completely different source than the demonic or holy magic the demon hunter and paladin use.

She follows the same principle Illidan does: use the demon's power against them.|||Quote:

Hehe, QFT...

I find it interesting that the stereotypical sword and shield wielder isn't in this game. In fact, I haven't seen one sword or shield. This means guessing one of the expansion characters shouldn't be so hard.

From what I can remember, several classes can use swords. Shields seem to be usable for every class, with some expertise with Barbarians.
