DH pet ideas

[:1]GS: One final thought: Traditionally, most ranged or ranger-type classes have some sort of pet accompaniment. Have you given any thought to giving the demon hunter a pet?

JB: We have thought about it, but I really can't say more than we like the idea.

GS: We'll just leave it at that then. Thanks, guys.

Any idea's on what the pet would be, if they do reveal one? Do you think it would be an animal or some other kind of pet?|||DH will have a pet but who knows. The druid already took wolves. Zombie bears taken too...laugh.

One is a walking sentry and the other an enslaved deamon.

The Sentry pet is a runed variant of the Sentry skill.

The demon is a high lvl skill with high HP but low damage (a tank).

However, DH shouldn't be about having pets in the same sense as the WD. I get the feeling they are both vulnerable to melee damage, though. And having a tank is one way to counter that. The WD uses pets for damage output also, while the DH would rely on other skills for damage.|||They should do better than a valkyrie with a different name and look.|||A D2 assassin trap like skill that could be attacked would fit the character well in my opinion. It would be a cross between bone wall and a trap Instead of using its geometry to block the monster it would use some damage out put maybe a flame thrower to keep enemy attention.|||I'd rather not have a tank. It trivializes the entire idea of a mobile, fast paced archer by letting it stand there and machinegun everything to death with no fear of getting hit.

Short duration summons with various tricks I can get behind. Like throwing out a moving decoy to momentarily distract enemies.|||Quote:

Like the D2 Valk?

I agree though, rather than an uber tank that can survive anything, it will probably be a short term pet that will buy a short amount of time.|||How about a small tamed demon? She uses her "dabbling into dark" magic to summon it straight from Hell.

I tend to agree that this pet should not be a permanent tank, but a somewhat quick distraction, but still feeling like a companion of the DH.
