[:1]Whips just don't seem to fit into the Diablo universe, despite the fact that they are a useful weapons in some countries martial arts (Filipino martial arts and I believe some Indian warrior groups), TBH because of this they really belong with the Monk if added not the DH.|||I think whips could fit very well into the Diablo universe. They are a inherently a brutal and devastating weapon. Possible but It could also be a skill like 'Mind Control' without usage of whip |||Thanks for the positive feedback to those that read my post on this topic. I especially like the "decapitation" idea one user posted. I think a whip would be a great method of surgically removing "pesky" critters from a group of mobs. Of course the "mind control" idea mentioned by another user is a good idea too. I could be like the mind-blast skill from the D2 Assassin which would give +x% chance to "convert" a creature to fight for you for "x seconds".
I still get a smile when I think of a DH dual-wielding whips made of pure Hell-fire, attacking a group of creatures in a spinning attack, something akin to a weaker version of the Barb's WW attack.|||Ok... Whips are cool, But imagine Chains... like runed, enchanted, chains shackled or wrapped around the demonhunter's wrists. Maybe bladed, spiked, or engulfed in flame and/or a blunt, edged, or piercing tip on the end(s). Now that I think of it, perhaps something like God of War's chained glaives, except more original. Rough idea of Blunt: D2 Flail (-) the handle.|||If he�ll have melee skills it won�t be a whip. It makes much more sense to have daggers, since he already has a dagger nova skill.|||I can see a whip as a skill, but not a weapon in itself. You don't have to have knives equipped for the knife nova so a whip skill could produce the whip. It could do a variety of effects when runed and have different looks (barbed end, cat-o-9 tails, chain, etc).
But I think I agree that it shouldn't be a findable and equippable weapon...just doesnt seem feasible enough. The whip is a mid-ranged weapon and most monsters are either in melee range or attacking from afar, requiring specific gameplay style and manuveuring that limits you if that's your main weapon...better to just have it as a skill and use a crossbow in order to have multiple options. Plus the movement and mechanics of a whip are not like the other weapons in the game and we KNOW that the dev team won't dedicate time to animating just one weapon specifically.
